Meet our dentists and staff.
Our dentists,
Dr. Gary Millinger and Dr. Tom Dekker,
bring more than 50 years of combined advanced clinical
expertise to the practice. They provide preventive and
general dentistry services, as well as advanced
restoration, orthodontics, oral surgery, and cosmetic
dentistry.
Gary Millinger, DMD, MAGD, PC
Dr. Millinger received his BS from Rutgers University,
his DMD from New Jersey Dental School, and did his
general practice residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in
Hartford, Connecticut. He completed his T.M.J. and
facial pain residency at New Jersey Medical School and
his Orthodontic residency at the Institute for Graduate
Dentists in New York City. An additional 5 years of training
earned him the prestigious designation of Master in the
Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Millinger has also completed extensive training
in restorative dentistry at the esteemed Pankey
Institute for Advanced Dental Education. He also
completed advanced aesthetic and functional cosmetic
dental training with Dr. David Hornbrook, one of the
nation’s most renowned cosmetic dentists. In addition
to maintaining his practice, Dr. Millinger is a Clinical
Instructor in the Department of Oral Health and
Diagnostic Sciences at the University of Connecticut
Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut. Dr.
Millinger is a member of the American Dental
Association, the Connecticut State Dental
Association, the International Academy of Orthodontics,
the Academy of General Dentistry, the Seattle Study Club
for Excellence in Dentistry, and the New England Master
Track program. He has also served on the peer review
committee of the Hartford Dental Society for more than
20 years, and is a member of the medical staff at St.
Francis Hospital.
Tom Dekker, DDS
Dr. Dekker completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree
(DDS) at the University of Michigan. He completed a
2-year residency at St. Francis Hospital and Medical
Center in Hartford, Connecticut, where he is still an
affiliated staff member.
From 1997 to 2008, Dr. Dekker was the assistant program
director at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center,
overseeing 9 dental residents. Since 2000 he has worked
part of his time in Dr. Millinger's practice, providing
general dentistry services such as surgical extractions,
removing impacted wisdom teeth, fillings, dentures,
crowns, routine root canals, and placing and restoring
dental implants.
Dr. Dekker is a member of the Hartford Dental Society,
the American Dental Association, and the Academy of
Dentistry. He pursues continuing education to stay
abreast of the latest dental technology. His wife,
Dr. Beth Dekker, is a dentist, too, with a practice in
Sharon, Connecticut. The Dekkers live in Falls Village,
CT with their four children.

With their own brand of warmth and compassion, our clinical experts
provide important services and education to
our patients.
Audrey Carlson, Dental Hygienist,
has been in the profession for 31 years, nearly
21 of them with Dr. Millinger. Keeping the
holistic model in mind, Audrey works directly
with patients, providing cleanings, x-rays,
sealants, periodontal therapies, and patient
education.
Ana Pinho, Clinical
Assistant, has been working for Dr.
Millinger in dental administration for 17
years. Ana is responsible for scheduling,
answering phones, greeting patients, filing
insurance claims, discusses financial
arrangements with patients, dental coding,
and dental insurance negotiating.
Vanessa Cordeiro,
Clinical Assistant, has been working
for Dr. Millinger in dental administration
for 9 years. Vanessa’s duties include
answering phones, greeting patients,
scheduling, billing and bookkeeping, filing
insurance claims, and keeping the office
organized. Vanessa recently obtained a
degree in Medical Assisting.
Shraddha Powar
Marshall, MS, Dental Assistant, has
been working with Dr. Millinger for one year
as a Certified Dental Assistant. Shraddha’s
duties include assisting Dr. Millinger in
various dental procedures, discussing
treatment plans with the patients, and
helping to keep them comfortable. She is a
General Dentist from India and has brought
her skills and experiences to this office.
Kong Chee Yang, Dental
Hygienist, has been a Dental
Hygienist for one year and has been with Dr.
Millinger for 1 year. Kong Chee is
responsible for direct patient care,
assessing dental health, and teaching her
patients how to care for their teeth and
gums. Kong Chee is passionate about her
patients’ oral health and overall care and
hopes to have a positive impact on all
patients.
Marleen Grandia,
Dental Hygienist, is the newest
member of the team. A native of central
Connecticut, and a graduate of Tunxis
Community College and UCONN, she brings with
her 23 years of experience, including
specialties in Pedodontics (child care),
Periodontics (gum care) and Orthodontics
(teeth alignment). Within her profession,
Marleen serves as the president of the
Hartford Dental Hygienists’ Association, a
member of the Tunxis Community College
Dental Advisory Board, and as a member of
the State Department of Public Health Dental
Review Board. Patients of Marleen’s will
receive attentive care with an educational
and preventive focus in a sincere,
personable, and caring manner.
